New Conference at World of Photonics Congress

OSA Imaging and Applied Optics Congress

OSA is bringing the latest advances in imaging technologies to the World of Photonics Congress. The well-established OSA Imaging and Applied Optics Congress, which is an annual event will be located as part of the World of Photonics Congress starting in 2019. The OSA congress will consist of four meetings covering many of the latest advances in imaging processing, as well as image hardware and system development.

Computational Optical Sensing and Imaging: Demonstration and applications of the latest advances in computational imaging research. Includes advances in machine learning applied to imaging and sensing with applications ranging from autonomous vehicles to biomedical imaging.

Imaging Systems and Applications: Latest advances in imaging devices for applications in military, industrial, medical, and consumer imaging. Highlights the leading-edge use of imaging systems in consumer imaging, automotive and drone imaging, photography and digital cinematography capture and projection, remote sensing, microscopy, invasive and non-invasive surgery, and airborne and astronomical observations and imaging.

Mathematics in Imaging: Covers the physical and mathematical modeling of imaging process and the design and analysis of novel theory and algorithms to address challenges of image reconstruction.

Propagation through and Characterization of Atmospheric and Oceanic Phenomena: Addresses the full complexity and interactions of distributed volume effects, based on the most recent results from the fields of atmospheric optics, boundary layer physics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, meteorology, adaptive optics, laser sciences and singular optics.

These meetings bring together many of the world experts to discuss timely advances and improvements in the world of digital imaging and processing, along with discussions on impairments caused by propagation and component limitations that affect image quality. The latest designs in imaging hardware and their incorporation into representative cameras and imaging systems will be presented. The all-important processing that necessarily follows digital image acquisition is discussed in detail along with the latest advances in the basic mathematics that underpins state-of-the-art image processing and data extraction algorithms.
